Walk in Christ: Grow Strong in Faith Each Day

Walk in Christ With Daily Steps
Paul says, “As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him” (Colossians 2:6). This verse gives a simple picture. Faith is a walk. A walk takes one step, then another step. The Christian life works the same way.
We come to Jesus by faith. We do not save ourselves. God saves us by grace. Ephesians 2:8 says, “By grace you have been saved through faith.” That means Jesus does the saving. We trust Him.
Then we keep trusting Him each day. We do not start with grace and then live by pride. We do not start with Jesus and then move past Him. The same Lord who saves us also leads us.
To walk in Christ means we follow Him at home, at work, at school, and with friends. We tell the truth, showing love and saying no to sin. When we feel weak, we ask for help.
Daily steps matter. A person does not grow strong by doing one push-up each year. A plant does not grow deep roots with one drop of water. In the same way, our faith grows as we spend time with God.
2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved.” Paul tells us to handle God’s Word in the right way. That means we read it. We think about it. We obey it.
Prayer also helps us walk. Jesus often prayed to the Father. If Jesus prayed, we need prayer too. Prayer helps us talk to God and trust Him.
Church helps us as well. God did not make us to walk alone. Hebrews 10:25 tells believers not to stop meeting together. We need songs, prayer, teaching, and care from God’s people.
Walk in Christ With Deep Roots
Paul says believers should be “rooted and built up in Him” (Colossians 2:7). A tree needs roots. Roots help the tree stand when wind comes. Roots also help the tree drink water.
Faith needs roots too. Trouble will come. Temptation will come. Hard days will come. Deep roots in Jesus help us stand.
Jesus told a story about seed in Matthew 13. Some seed fell on rocky ground. It grew fast, but it had no root. When the sun came, it dried up. Jesus said some people hear God’s Word with joy, but they fall away when trouble comes.
That warning matters. Fast feelings do not always mean deep faith. Big smiles do not always mean strong roots. Real faith grows deeper as we keep trusting Jesus.
Cultivate a Heart of Gratitude
Paul also says we should overflow with thanks (Colossians 2:7). Thankful hearts remember grace. They remember that God saved us. They remember that each good gift comes from Him.
James 1:17 says every good gift comes from above. A thankful person sees God’s hand in daily life. Food, family, friends, breath, and hope all come from Him.
Guard Your Mind Against Deceptive Ideas
Then Paul gives another warning. Colossians 2:8 says, “See to it that no one takes you captive.” He warns about empty lies and human ideas that do not honor Christ.
Not every big idea is true. Some ideas sound smart but lead people away from God. Some ideas tell us we can live any way we want. Others say no one can know truth.
Jesus says something very different. In John 14:6, He says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” Jesus does not say He knows one truth among many. He says He is the truth.
So we must watch what shapes our minds. Songs shape us. Shows shape us. Friends shape us. Social media shapes us. God’s Word must shape us most.
Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” God changes us as His truth fills our minds. He helps us see sin clearly. He helps us love what is good.
A strong walk with Jesus does not happen by chance. We take daily steps by reading Scripture, praying, and worshipping. Through obedience, thanking God, and rejecting empty lies, we remain grounded in Him.
Christ gives us deep roots. His Word gives us strong truth. His Spirit gives us power. As we walk in Christ, we grow steady, wise, and thankful.
