Today’s sermon explored the various seasons of life we all experience—from youth to retirement, from spring-like freshness to winter-like barrenness—and how these seasons are normal parts of living in a …fallen world. Just as Moses experienced three distinct 40-year seasons in his life (as a prince, a shepherd, and a deliverer), we too go through periods that God uses to refine and prepare us for His purposes. The key message is clear: no matter what season you’re in, don’t give up or check out. Allow God to have His perfect work in your life, remembering that difficult seasons are temporary and purposeful. Our citizenship is ultimately in Heaven, and we should live each day with the right attitude, following godly examples, and keeping our eyes fixed on our future glory with Christ.

Today’s sermon explored the concept of “reaching forward” – stretching to grasp God’s best for our lives. Just as we strive for excellence in our careers, hobbies, and daily tasks, …we should pursue spiritual maturity with even greater passion. The central question posed was challenging: Do we want God’s blessing enough to change our lifestyle and become who He has called us to be? Like the man at the pool of Bethesda who waited 38 years for healing, we must not only desire God’s work in our lives but be willing to forsake the areas we haven’t surrendered to Him. True satisfaction and joy come only when we find them in Christ, not in our accomplishments, possessions, or religious activities.

Takeaways:
– Lose Your Rubbish: Take inventory of your life and identify what you’ve prioritized that doesn’t truly satisfy. Like Paul, count everything as loss compared to the surpassing value of knowing Christ. Our achievements, accolades, and earthly pursuits cannot fill the God-shaped void within us.
– Embrace Your Faith: Stand in Christ’s righteousness, not your own. Pursue an intimate, personal relationship with God where you know Him deeply and experience both the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings. Remember, this Christian journey is a marathon, not a sprint.
– Forget Your Past: Don’t live on yesterday’s blessings or be paralyzed by yesterday’s failures. God’s grace is new every morning. Press forward toward the goal of becoming more like Christ, trusting that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

As you move through this week, I encourage you to ask yourself: What am I reaching forward to grasp? Is it more of Christ, or am I settling for the rubbish of this world? Remember, we’re all works in progress, being molded and shaped by our Heavenly Father to become more like Him.

Today’s sermon explored Psalm 33 in light of America’s founding and our current cultural moment. While America has never been a “Christian nation” in the strictest sense, our country was …undeniably founded on Biblical principles by leaders who acknowledged God’s providence and authority. From “In God We Trust” on our currency to the Declaration of Independence’s recognition that we are “endowed by our Creator,” God’s influence on our foundation is undeniable. However, as we’ve drifted from these moorings—embracing moral relativism, political corruption, and rejecting God’s standards—we face the same fate as empires before us. The sermon challenged us to remember that “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12) and that our only hope, both individually and collectively, is found in fearing the Lord and trusting in Jesus Christ.

– God sees everything and knows our hearts completely. We cannot hide our thoughts, motives, or actions from Him. He has given us both a conscience and His Word to guide us toward righteousness, and we will all stand before Him to give account.

As we reflect on our nation’s history and future, let us commit to being people who honor God in every area of our lives, who fear Him appropriately, and who share the hope of the Gospel with those around us.

Remember, the name “Christian” means “Christ-like” or “little Christ.” Our calling is not to embrace the filtered, perfected image that culture demands, but to embrace His likeness – characterized by humility, service, and sacrificial love. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
May you walk in the unity of the Spirit this week, serving others with the same heart that Christ demonstrated for us.

This includes speaking truth, controlling our anger, working honestly, using our words to build others up, and forgiving as Christ forgave us. As we face opposition and even suffering for our faith, we’re called to stand firm in one spirit, working together for the advancement of the Gospel, knowing that our labor in Christ is never in vain.

As you go through this week, be encouraged to ask yourself: “What is my life really about? Am I living for Christ, or am I still searching for satisfaction in things that can never truly fulfill?” Remember, God knew you before the foundation of the world and has a specific purpose for your life. Don’t waste it chasing temporary pleasures when you were created for eternal significance.
Let’s make our lives count for Him—today and every day.

This reminds us that our circumstances don’t determine our effectiveness for Christ; our faithfulness does. When we embrace lifestyle evangelism and commit to loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength while loving our neighbors as ourselves, we become powerful witnesses wherever God has placed us—whether that’s in our workplace, our neighborhood, or even in seasons of hardship.

– Our greatest impact often comes when we least expect it. We never know when our simple witness will plant seeds that later bear fruit. God calls us to be faithful in sharing His love, trusting Him with the results.
– Difficult circumstances are opportunities for Gospel advancement, not obstacles to it. When we face trials with faith and continue to speak boldly about Christ, we inspire other believers and reach those who are watching our response to adversity.

As we move forward this week, let’s ask ourselves: Are we sitting at Jesus’ feet regularly? Are we trusting His plan even in our pain? And what are we willing to give Him that actually costs us something?

– Love with knowledge and discernment. Our love should be rooted in what God says about love, carefully discerning how to serve others in ways that truly help rather than enable. We serve not to earn salvation, but because we’ve already been given salvation through Christ.

Today’s sermon explored the Book of Philippians, known as the “Book of Joy,” written by the Apostle Paul while imprisoned in Rome. Despite his chains and uncertain future, Paul penned …one of the most encouraging letters in Scripture. We examined how Paul understood the believers in Philippi, stayed in contact with them through letters, and ministered with words of hope. The central truth we discovered is found in Philippians 1:6: “He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” This means that when God starts a work in our lives, He will never leave us undone. The question is not whether God will finish His work, but whether we will surrender to His plans and allow Him to mold and shape us according to His purpose.

Takeaways:
– God’s work in us is complete and ongoing. We are not working for victory, but working within victory because God has placed Himself in us through the Holy Spirit. Though we may stumble and fall in our sin nature, He will not abandon the good work He started.
– Hope and joy are available even in difficult circumstances. Paul wrote this letter of joy from a cold Roman prison, teaching us that our circumstances do not have to dictate our spiritual condition. When we stay connected to Christ, we can experience exceeding joy that comes from an inward peace not affected by outward trials.
– Staying in contact and encouraging one another matters deeply. Paul consistently reached out to believers with words of grace and peace. In our difficult times, we need to ask ourselves: Are we reaching out to help those in trouble around us? A simple word of encouragement can make an eternal difference in someone’s life.

As we move forward this week, reflect on the areas where God is working in your life. Are there places where you need to surrender more fully to His plans? Remember, His favor toward us is never ending, and though weeping may last for a night, a shout of joy comes in the morning.
