Complete in Christ Because Jesus Is God

Colossians 2:9 says, “In Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form.” Paul speaks about Jesus. He says Jesus is fully God. That truth stands at the center of our faith.

Many people like Jesus as a teacher. Others call Him a good man. Some see Him as a helper or prophet. The Bible says much more. Jesus is God the Son.

John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John then says, “The Word became flesh” (John 1:14). That means Jesus came to earth as a real man. Yet He never stopped being God.

While Jesus experienced human fatigue, sleep, tears, and pain, He simultaneously demonstrated divine power by healing the sick, calming storms, forgiving sin, and raising the dead. Only God can do those things by His own power.

John 8:58 shows this truth too. Jesus said, “Before Abraham was, I am.” The people knew what He meant. He used the name God gave Moses in Exodus 3:14. Jesus claimed to be the eternal Lord.

This matters for our salvation. A normal man could not save the world from sin. An angel could not die for sinners and rise as Lord. Only Jesus, fully God and fully man, could save us.

Because Jesus is God, His death has full power. Because Jesus is man, He can stand in our place. Hebrews 4:15 says Jesus understands our weakness, yet He did not sin. He knows our pain, and He has power to save.

Complete in Christ Through New Life

Colossians 2:10 says believers have fullness in Christ. Many Bible versions say we are “complete in Christ.” That means Jesus gives us what we need most. He gives forgiveness, peace, hope, and new life.

People often feel broken. Sin breaks hearts. Shame weighs people down. Bad choices leave scars. Pain from others can hurt for years.

Yet Jesus can heal what sin has hurt. By offering forgiveness to the guilty, He cleanses the heart and provides a fresh start, inviting all weary souls to come to Him.

Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus does not push away broken people. He welcomes all who trust Him.

Transformed from the Inside Out

Paul then talks about circumcision in Colossians 2:11. This may sound strange to us. In the Old Testament, circumcision marked God’s covenant people. But Paul speaks about the heart.

Deuteronomy 30:6 says God will circumcise the heart so His people will love Him. That means God changes us deep inside. He cuts away the rule of sin. He gives us a heart that can love Him.

Romans 2:29 says true heart change comes by the Spirit. So God does more than change our actions. He changes our inner life. He gives new wants, new love, and new power.

Then Paul talks about baptism. Colossians 2:12 says we have been buried with Christ and raised with Him through faith. Baptism shows what Jesus has done. Going under the water points to death and burial. Coming up from the water points to new life.

Baptism does not mean we saved ourselves. Instead, it points to genuine faith in Jesus, publicly declaring, “I belong to Christ,” and testifying to His death and resurrection.

Freedom and Hope in His Victory

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature.” The old life does not get the last word. Sin does not get the last word. Shame does not get the last word.

Jesus gets the last word. He rules over every power. Colossians 2:10 says He is “the head over all rule and authority.” No demon, fear, sin, or ruler stands above Him.

One day all people will stand before God. Revelation 20 speaks about the great white throne. That truth should wake us up. Life is short, and judgment is real.

Still, believers have hope. Romans 8:1 says, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Jesus took our judgment at the cross. He rose again to give us life.

Therefore, there is no need to chase other saviors or strain to earn God’s love. Rather than trying to fix ourselves first, we simply come to Jesus by faith.

To be complete in Christ means Jesus makes us whole before God. He forgives us, cleans us, and He raises us to new life. He holds us forever.
