Complete in Christ: How Jesus Makes Us Whole

Complete in Christ by Proclaiming Jesus

Colossians 1:28 gives the church a clear job. Paul says, “We proclaim Him.” That means we tell people about Jesus. We do not put our hope in a speaker, a song, a building, or a plan. We put our hope in Christ.

Jesus must stay at the center. Colossians 1:15–20 says He made all things and holds them together. As head of the church, Jesus brings peace through His blood on the cross.

Because of this, the church must talk much about Jesus. Good advice cannot save the soul. Nice words cannot wash away sin. Fun events cannot give new life. Only Jesus can do that.

The Goal of Spiritual Growth

Paul wanted to present every person complete in Christ. Complete means whole and grown up in faith. God does not save us so we stay weak and lost. He saves us so we grow.

A baby should grow. In the same way, a believer should grow. Hebrews 5:12–14 warns people who should know more but still act like infants in faith. God wants His children to become wise and strong.

Growth takes time. A plant does not become a tree in one day. A child does not become an adult in one week. Faith also grows step by step.

God uses His Word to help us grow. Psalm 19:7 says the law of the Lord is perfect, and it restores the soul. That means God’s Word helps fix what sin breaks.

Many people feel broken. Sin bends the heart. Fear shakes the mind. Shame weighs down the soul. Yet God speaks truth that heals and leads.

To become complete in Christ, we must listen to Jesus and trust His Word. Turning from sin, we follow Him each day.

This does not mean we become perfect in this life. We still need grace. We still need help. But Jesus keeps working in us.

Philippians 1:6 says God began a good work in His people, and He will finish it. That promise gives us courage. Christ does not quit on His own.

Complete in Christ Through Warning and Teaching

Paul says he admonishes and teaches every person. Admonish means to warn with love. Teaching means to show truth from God’s Word. The church needs both.

A loving parent warns a child not to touch fire. That warning may sound strong. Still, love gives the warning because fire can hurt. In the same way, God warns us about sin because sin destroys.

Many people today do not like warnings. They want kind words only. But true love tells the truth. Proverbs 27:6 says the wounds of a friend are faithful.

God never warns us because He hates us. He warns us because He loves us. Sin brings death. Jesus brings life.

1 Thessalonians 5:14 gives wise care. It says to warn the unruly, cheer the fainthearted, help the weak, and show patience to all. Notice how each person needs care in a different way.

Some people need a warning. Others need comfort. A few need help to stand. Everyone needs patience.

Teaching also matters. People cannot obey what they do not know. Many have never read the Bible. They may feel guilt, but they do not know the way to peace.

Equipped by Scripture and God’s Power

Romans 2:15 says God gave people a conscience. That means deep inside, we know some things are right and wrong. Even so, conscience cannot tell us the whole gospel. We need Scripture.

2 Timothy 3:16–17 says all Scripture comes from God. It teaches, corrects, and trains us. Through the Bible, God equips His people for good work.

Paul also says he works hard. Colossians 1:29 says he labors and strives with God’s power. Labor means hard work. Strive means strong effort.

Serving Jesus takes effort. Prayer takes time. Bible study takes focus. Loving people takes patience. Sharing the gospel takes courage.

Yet we do not serve by our own strength. Paul says God’s power works in him. Ephesians 3:20 says God can do far more than we ask or think by His power in us.

This gives us hope. While we work hard, God gives strength. Though we speak truth, He changes hearts. As we teach the Word, God makes people grow.

Every believer has a part. Parents can teach children. Friends can pray together. Church members can serve. Leaders can train the church. All of us can point people to Jesus.

God wants to make people complete in Christ. He uses His Word, His Spirit, and His people. So let us proclaim Jesus with love and warn with care. May we teach with truth and serve with His strength.
